U.S. soccer officials have named the members of the women’s team that will compete at the Paris Olympics and San Diego Wave FC‘s Alex Morgan is not among them.

Morgan, a forward, has been a mainstay on the U.S. squad since 2010 and part of four FIFA Women’s World Cups. A three-time Olympian, she helped the U.S. bring home the gold at the 2012 London Olympics, including a goal in the 123rd minute in a semifinal win over Canada.

The Wave is represented among the 18 women to play for Team USA at the Games, beginning July 25, one day ahead of the Opening Ceremony.

Defender Naomi Girma and forward Jaedyn Shaw are both first-time Olympians, and Shaw, at 19, is the youngest player on the roster.

The other forwards to make the team are Crystal Dunn (NJ/NY Gotham FC), Trinity Rodman (Washington Spirit), Sophia Smith (Portland Thorns FC) and Mallory Swanson (Chicago Red Stars).

With Morgan, who turns 35 next week, not among that group, ESPN noted that “it looks like a difficult ending to one of the most storied careers in USWNT history.”

On Wednesday, she posted on Twitter, “Today, I’m disappointed about not having the opportunity to represent our country on the Olympic stage.”

She added though that “in less than a month, I look forward to supporting this team and cheering them on alongside the rest of our country.”

The Wave has two other Olympians, who will compete for Australia – midfielder Emily van Egmond and defender Kaitlyn Torpey.
