Kentucky congressman Thomas Massie announces wife’s passing

KENTUCKY ( FOX 56 ) — U.S. Rep. Thomas Massie shared on social media that his wife, Rhonda, has died.

According to Massie, Rhonda passed away on Thursday.

“Yesterday my high school sweetheart, the love of my life for over 35 years, the loving mother of our 4 children, the smartest, kindest woman I ever knew, my beautiful and wise queen forever, Rhonda, went to Heaven,” Massie said on X . “Thank you for your prayers for our family in this difficult time.”

Massie, the 4th District Kentucky representative, shared photos and memories of his wife on Friday. He said that his wife was the valedictorian at their high school, was accepted at MIT and Harvard, and “devoted her life to our family.”

The pair spent last weekend visiting Mt. Rainier with their family and grandson, and he said he remembers her as “the best mamaw ever.”

Andy Barr, 6th District Kentucky representative, shared his condolences on X on Friday.

“I am deeply saddened by the passing of Rhonda Massie, the beloved wife of my friend and colleague, Thomas Massie. Rhonda’s warmth, kindness, and dedication to her family and community touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her,” Barr said. “During this heartbreaking time, my thoughts and prayers are with Thomas, their four children, and the entire Massie family.”

The Republican Party of Kentucky also released a statement about the unexpected death of Rhonda.

“The Republican Party of Kentucky is shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Rhonda Massie. Rhonda was an amazing mother, wife, and Kentuckian. She touched all who knew her and will be deeply missed. We ask that you join us in praying for Congressman Massie and his family during this difficult time.”

Rhonda leaves behind four children, and the pair were married for 35 years. Arrangements have not been announced.
