So many people from South Louisiana will be traveling I-10 this weekend to reach their favorite beach and we have an important forecast for you.

As we approach the Fourth of July, beachgoers from across Acadiana are looking to cool off or relax in places like Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, Pensacola, and Destin, Florida. Sadly, we’ve had several reports of drownings already this summer and the gulf may be a bit unfriendly as we approach Independence Day.

One thing you will want to be aware of this weekend on the beach is the color of the flags. If you see a Red Flag, you should exercise extreme caution while in the water, and if a double Red Flag is flying, stay out of the water.

Rip currents have been responsible for several drownings this summer along the Gulf Coast and if conditions are favorable for them, you need to not be in the water.

So, let’s get to the rip current forecast this weekend and you will see that on some days rip currents may be present near the shore. Remember never to get too deep in the water when conditions are rough, and if you get caught in a rip current you should swim with the current and not against it.

Take a look at the rip current forecast for the Gulf Coast this weekend, and please remember to exercise caution while on the beach and while in the water.
