The US Food and Drug Administration has changed the risk level of a garlic bread product that has been recalled over “undeclared allergens.”

It has been classified as Class II by the FDA, which signifies a moderate health risk.

Exposure to the allergen could lead to "temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences, but where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote."

The recall was initiated on June 6. The products are from Lidl US TRADING, based in Arlington, Virginia, Newsweek reported. There’s more information on the product’s specifications below.

They were then distributed to stores in Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, Georgia, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, New York and Washington D.C.

A Lidl US spokesperson told Newsweek: "This voluntary recall was issued due to undeclared allergens in the product as a result of non-English ingredient labeling. Lidl US has received no reports or complaints of illness related to this product to date."

There are three levels of recall classifications. Class I is the highest risk and is issued when there is “reasonable probability” that exposure to the product could result in adverse health.

Class II indicates a medium risk, while Class III is the least serious risk.

Food Allergy Research Education reports that there are nine foods that are most likely to cause an allergic reaction (although any food has the possibility). Cow’s milk is the most common, along with wheat, which can symptoms involving the skin, gastrointestinal tract, respiratory system, and occasionally anaphylaxis, which 'can be fatal,' according to WebMD.
