Molly is all about saving money while making a lot of it, so she spends as little as possible to update her thrifted furniture into brand new pieces. But that doesn't mean she doesn't put a ton of work into them!

One of her most viral videos to date was when she used an unusual ingredient to stain a wooden dresser: bleach . Yep, straight up bleach! Here's how she made it work.

How to Use Bleach to Upgrade Wooden Furniture

Molly found this dresser online for $75 and that's a pretty high price compared to other pieces she's been able to thrift, so she was determined to keep her costs as low as possible, a.k.a. zero dollars. So she grabbed a sander, bleach, paint, and got to work.

After first sanding down the entire piece, she took a simple brush and painted the bleach on in soft strokes. Then it's just time to wait! She left the dresser out in the sun to "work its magic" and the waiting definitely paid off. You can see how quickly the bleach and sun combo completely lightened to wood to a totally new shade. She applied the bleach one more time.

In order to soften the grain, she added on a light tan paint wash and then added on her layers of top coat. She even soaked the hardware with vinegar and baking soda to bring their shine back.

We love the light elegant look the bleach gave the piece!
