On Friday, June 28 , Trevon Chappelle was sentenced to 15 years with six years suspended for charges related to a shooting that took place at the White Oak Village shopping center on July 3, 2021.
At around 5:30 p.m. on July 3, 2021, Henrico Police received a call for a shooting at the White Oak Village shopping center.
Officers arrived to a “chaotic scene” at the NOLA by Nisha store located at the shopping center and found a 16-year-old girl dead from her injuries. The victim was later identified as Jamirah by her aunt to 8News crews who arrived on scene.
Another man who was shot was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Two other suspects , identified as Jihad Arlik Ruffin and a juvenile male, were charged in connection to the shooting incident in addition to Chappelle.

In December of 2023 , Ruffin was sentenced to 43 years in prison with 15 years suspended on the following three charges:
Maliciously discharging a firearm into an occupied building
Using a firearm in the commission of a felony
On Friday, Chappelle was sentenced to 10 years with five years suspended for involuntary manslaughter, as well as five years with one year suspended for unlawfully shooting into an occupied building in connection to the shooting.
