‘I’m Going to Stop It Here’: Biden Campaign Stopped Voters From Talking to NYT Reporter As Comments Turned Critical

A New York Times reporter attending a rally held by Vice President Kamala Harris says that a staffer for the Biden-Harris campaign twice interrupted interviews with voters when they began to voice concerns about President Joe Biden .

Simon Levien , a politics fellow at the Times , reported that “a Nevada Biden campaign staffer followed me and twice asked that voters end their interviews when their comments turned critical of President Biden” at the rally on Friday afternoon.

“One undecided voter, Stephen Stubbs , said he wished Biden would step aside and let Harris be the presidential nominee,” continued Levien. “The staffer interrupted, saying: ‘I’m going to stop it here, sorry, if I can. It’s a Biden event. Is that okay?’ Levien reported the incident on a Times liveblog .

The Biden campaign is still reeling after its principal’s performance in his debate with Donald Trump on Thursday night, which prompted many in the Democratic establishment and media to suggest that it may be best for him to bow out of the race.

“I think this is something he needs to consider and those around him need to consider: What does he want his legacy to be?” posited CNN’s David Axelrod Friday afternoon.

But all reporting on the matter indicates that Biden remains defiant and determined to stay in the race.

“I don’t walk as easily as I used to. I don’t speak as smoothly as I used to. I don’t debate as well as I used to, but I know what I do know. I know how to tell the truth,” declared Biden at a rally of his own in North Carolina on Friday. “I know right from wrong. Well, I know how to do this job.  I know how to get things done. I know, like millions of Americans know. When you get knocked down, you get back up.”
