One thing about babies...they're almost always hungry! Whether you're nursing or bottle-feeding around the clock or supplying them with a constant stream of snacks, sometimes it can seem like your little one is a bottomless pit.

In a hilarious video posted on June 27, a mom is at the pool with her baby daughter when she offers her something to eat...and discovers that her child is actually a "little food monster" in disguise! Her ravenous reaction isn't just adorable, it's super relatable for anybody with a constant need to nosh.

"She don't play with her food," wrote Stina Amos . That girl definitely loves her sweet potato sticks! Commenters completely understood.

"She looks like me when I'm at Olive Garden," wrote becca.

"Lmfao this resonates," wrote Amande Hatch.

    "Bestie, same," wrote duckduckdanielle.

If your own baby hasn't started trying to devour everything in sight just yet, chances are they will before you know it. That said, every child's timeline for self-feeding is different, experts say.

When Are Babies Ready for Finger Foods?

It's a pretty huge milestone when your little one starts feeding themselves , but not all babies develop this skill at the same age, according to The Bump.

"There’s no hard and fast rule in terms of when babies can start eating finger foods , says William Dietz, MD, PhD, director of the Sumner M. Redstone Global Center for Prevention and Wellness at the Milken Institute School of Public Health at the George Washington University in Washington, DC, and co-editor of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Nutrition: What Every Parent Needs to Know . Rather than focusing on baby’s age, says Dietz, 'the first indicator you should look for is that the baby is interested.' So how can you tell when baby’s interest is piqued? Reaching for the food as you’re feeding her, grabbing the bowl or spoon, putting the spoon in her mouth and fussing when she sees you eat (because she wants in!) are all signs your child may be ready. 'Babies generally want to feed themselves,' Dietz says. 'That’s a normal drive.'"

Another sign that your baby is ready to try finger foods is the ability to sit independently in a high chair. While some experts say you should wait until your little one can pick up small objects between their thumb and forefinger, others say this isn't necessary (they can actually use their whole hand to get food in their mouth).

You also don't have to wait until you baby has teeth before you make the transition from purees, as they can generally mash up soft solids with their gums without a problem! Just be sure to start with small pieces of soft food, and monitor their snacking at all times.
