Jason and Carly finally talked about what she knew about the reason for his presumed death for two years and a half.
In Friday's General Hospital, Carly confronted Jason about the reason he has been forced to work with the FBI. She previously found out last week from Sam who played her a recording (from Sam's operation with Spinelli to hack the FBI). The recording was Carly saying she's the head of the Corinthos Organization back when Sonny was thought to be dead. Jason has been working with the FBI to make sure that evidence doesn't get out since Carly could potentially face prison time.
Their conversation began with Carly admitting she knew the reason why Jason was gone in addition to working for the FBI and it was because of her. Jason asked her who told her, which she replied Sam. Carly also answered Jason's question about how Sam knew, she explained it was because of Spinelli and his hacking. The conversation turned emotional when Carly asked Jason why did he pick her over his freedom and children.

Jason explained that he was protecting Carly because he knew she would challenge the FBI. He also added that he didn't think he was going to be working for the FBI for that long, he thought it was only going to be for six months. He then reassured Carly that he didn’t regret his decision. Carly exclaimed she knew he would protect her because that's what he always does but since she's the target she "deserved to know" and should have a say in how the situation was going to be handled. Carly also said she didn't want him to throw his life away.
Jason said he was handling the situation and he was not throwing his life away. Carly posed a question to Jason about how he knew John Cates would not "double cross" him or if John and the FBI would ever let him go. Jason responded that's a risk he's willing to take. Carly informed Jason that she talked to Diane about her chances of acquittal and shared the odds are 30%. The conversation turned heated when Jason yelled about how his "sacrifice" would be for nothing if Carly goes to jail.
Fans were annoyed with this conversation and Jason for protecting Carly and not even thinking of his children. One fan wrote on X/Twitter" " Jason talking all this yap to Carly about her kids while ignoring the impact his choice had on his own kids is a terrible look and instead of trying to fix this, they are digging in. Just terrible " A second fan said: " So you have Jason & Drew abandon their children so Carly doesn’t have to get punished for something she willingly did." Another said: " I guess Jason doesn't love his sons enough to choose them over Carly! And Jason how will your boys feel learning you abandoned them for Carly?"
Jason and Carly continue to go back and forth in the conversation. Jason brought up her daughter Donna and his future guilt if Carly went to jail. He also asked her to let him handle it, at first Carly agreed but changed her mind. She said she couldn't let the FBI "use" him.
