When we see a creator take a gorgeous piece of wood furniture and pull out their paint brush, we tend to get a little worried. We hope they're not covering the original wood with a tacky paint color or giving it the "millennial beige" makeover. But sometimes items like this fall into just the right hands. And that's what happened with this antique buffet table.

This piece was unlike anything this DIYer had ever seen! She called it a "true furniture flipping unicorn" and we could not agree more. We're just so glad she isn't going to paint it!

Anyone who's watched a few (or a hundred) of furniture flipping videos definitely knows the name Jayde. Jayde ( @jayde.flip2thrive on TikTok) is a solo Australian mom working to earn money from flipping furniture to fund her dream home. She started documenting her journey as well as her various projects and her work is simply mesmerizing.

Whether you want to learn how to upgrade a piece of roadside trash or figure out how to get orange stain off wooden furniture, Jayde is absolutely going to be the gal for you. Her tutorials are so in-depth and she takes the time to explain exactly what she does and why. These are the kinds of creators we love!

What Did She Find This Week?

This week, Jayde found her "unicorn" piece of furniture: an antique buffet table. Obviously she had no intention of painting over this piece since it has such intricate woodworking, but she needed to figure out a way to remove the old finish.

Instead of sanding by hand or using a sand blaster, she opted to use a soda blaster, which shoots bicarbonate soda at a surface, removing finishes in seconds. It's honestly so satisfying to watch.

Since this piece was incredibly detailed, the soda blaster did an excellent job of removing the finish over every intricate spot without damaging the dresser itself.

After sanding the rest of the buffet, she mixed her own custom color of wood wax to make the piece a stunning warm rich shade of brown. She applied the wax to the buffet with an old t-shirt and then waiting six hours before adding her second coat.

We're so glad she restored this piece to its former glory instead of adding a paint or stain that didn't match its look. It's gorgeous!
