SALT LAKE CITY ( ABC4 ) — Another week has passed since the 2024 Utah Treasure
    Hunt
kicked off, and although many are eagerly out looking on the state’s trails, the $25,000 prize has yet to be claimed.

Since 2020, organizers David Cline and John Maxim have released a riddle during the summer to guide treasure hunters to a cash reward.

In addition to the riddle, Cline and Maxim release a set of hints every Friday until the treasure is found to aid adventurers in their search. This year’s first set of clues included a boundary map, clarification on punctuation in the riddle, and said the chest is hidden 30-50 feet off the trail.

A second set of clues have now been released to guide treasure hunters in their search this upcoming week.

    Utah Treasure Hunt 2024 Riddle:

    Hint #1

“The chest is hidden east of i15.”

In this week’s set of hints is a map that narrows down the location of the treasure even more.

    Hint #2:

“The poem refers to lobsters not locusts. Also, the lobster line has nothing to do with any restaurant or business.”

    Hint #3:

“Maybe one day we will do an urban treasure hunt but it’s not this hunt. The chest is hidden somewhere along one of the many beautiful trails in the mountains.

    Hint #4:

We can’t reveal who “he” is just yet. When we wrote the poem, we added one extra layer of complexity. We were referring to the year of his age. For example, the day after your 18th birthday would be the first day of your 19th year. So take his age and add 1.

Cline and Maxim also included a list of things to remember in the email, we are:

    • We’ve been reminding everyone since the beginning, but the most dangerous part of this hunt is the heat. So stay hydrated and plan accordingly.
    • A quick reminder that if you are at the location of the chest, you just need a swipe of the hand to see the chest. No shovels or digging is necessary.

While the treasure is still out there, you can sign up for future clues through the Utah Treasure Hunt website and follow @the.cline.fam and @onthejohn on Instagram.
