LUBBOCK, Texas — As Texans celebrate the nation’s independence on the Fourth of July, some might be wondering if liquor stores in the Lone Star state will be open to stock up for festivities.

While Texas liquor stores are closed for some holidays, those wishing to celebrate Independence Day with a drink are in luck.

Since the Fourth of July falls on a Thursday in 2024, Texas liquor stores are allowed to be open. Texas law states that liquor stores and package stores are to be closed on Sunday, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Remember to celebrate responsibly. If you need a ride, you find a list of transportation services here .
