GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — We’ve seen several visits from President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden here in North Carolina over the past few months. That included a visit on Friday.

With North Carolina being a swing state, political experts said this is to be expected. Since Biden is falling behind in some of the polls, those experts say that unless he makes up ground, we could see less of the Biden campaign moving forward.

“The Biden campaign needs to make up some ground in North Carolina,” said Dr. Peter Francia, ECU Political Science professor. “All of the major polls in the state have been trailing Trump in a few cases by a fairly hefty margin. So he needs to start closing the gap in North Carolina, or it may be the case that North Carolina falls out of play.

“It’s still certainly within striking distance for Biden … So I think it’s a strategic visit to try and get North Carolina back in play for the now, for the Biden campaign.”

The last Emerson Poll shows that voters favor Trump 47% to Biden’s 44% here in our state.
