When it gets to be hot enough outside, you want nothing more than to coop up in the AC and sit quietly. Seriously, it feels like breathing even makes everything hotter! We're officially entering Hot Season, so, it's time to plan our nice indoor activities!

That includes our pets, too! Outside of walks and play time, you can expect the heat to be turning even the most active pups into couch potatoes! On Wednesday, June 26th, one mom posted that her Basset Hound was totally getting a head start:

This version is far less heartbreaking than the original! How special is it that our fox friend comes to visit 🦊 #thefoxandthehound #disney #bassethound #hounddog #disneymovie #imahounddog

" Happy Enchanted Home " is the perfect name for this family. How sweet are they?! Look at this puppy!

Charlotte might just be a Disney princess herself, seriously. She's gone viral many times for her epic 1882 cottage, which she's renovating. At the same time, her cottage-core outfits are seriously to die for. Everything about this entire situation has me totally sucked in.

In the midst of it all, though, she's a dog mom to a sweet Basset Hound named Moo, and she has several cats. They're all living the life; she has a nice yard for them, and apparently, they get to have screen time. If Moo can watch Disney movies, I bet the kitties get to watch bird videos!

    Basset Hounds are Very Observant

Moo is a classic Basset Hound: he's having fun being lazy, but he's also enjoying watching his movie. There's another dog on the screen (maybe two, depending on how he views the fox) for him to watch. As scent hounds, Bassets love to watch things and attempt to sniff them out. Watching movies truly is enrichment!

In addition to his "programs," as my grandma would call them, Moo has other forms of enrichment. He goes on walks every day, which are important for scent hounds - lots of things to smell! Many Basset parents also try to set up specific scenting exercises; even if the dogs aren't actually used for hunting or professional sniffing, it's always good for them to be in-tune with their skills. You never know when they might need them!

They may look lazy , but a Basset Hound can get bored easily. If they're bored, Basset Hounds will often resort to behaviors like:

    1. Relentless barking
    2. Aggression
      1. Specifically, they can get kind of nippy.
    3. Stealing things around your house to smell.
    4. Going after other animals in your home to play.

Screen time is a great tool, but can't be their only form of enrichment. Lick mats, walks, scenting exercises, and regular playtime with toys are all great to avoid a bored Basset Hound!
