MADISON, Wis. -- The U.S. Department of Energy announced Friday it has granted Dane County $266,890 to help underserved communities improve access to energy efficiency upgrades and home electrification.

Through the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Program, the DOE said the campaign aims to reduce energy burdens for households that need it most, while simultaneously boosting clean energy knowledge within the local workforce.

Dane County officials said they will leverage networks to engage approximately 300 disadvantaged households and facilitate participation in energy efficiency and electrification programs. The county will also train officials at three community-based organizations to act as navigators for state and federal incentives for home electrification.
