Target Is Selling a $30 'Comfy' Active Dress Similar to an Alo Yoga Style Nearly 4x the Price, and Shoppers Say It's 'Super Flattering'

2024 has felt like the "Year of the Active Dress" with how retailers continue to drop new versions almost every other week. We’re not complaining, though! Active dresses or workout dresses are a great way to throw on a cute, easy outfit with stretchy, sweat-wicking material for added comfort and versatility. And Target’s newest active dress seems like another hit based on the reviews. (Not to mention it looks very similar to an Alo Yoga style that’s nearly four times the price.)

Target’s activewear brand, All In Motion, dropped the Women's Knit Halter Active Woven Dress and it’s currently $30. It comes in three colors—black, coral pink and light yellow—and a large range of sizes (XS through 4X). It’s a simple, classic design with racerback straps, a slight v-neck, a fitted bodice and an A-line skirt. Its name says “halter,” and while the front does give that halter neck look, you have support with the racerback straps. The dress is a “mini length” and looks like it hits right at the model’s upper thighs. As Target’s site says, it’s designed for “court sports, dance, yoga, everyday wear.”

Women's Knit Halter Active Woven Dress - All In Motion , $30 at Target

This knit halter woven dress is made with a “midweight recycled polyester with spandex and lining.” To be exact, the fabric makeup is 83% recycled polyester and 17% spandex. This allows the dress to be moisture-wicking, quick-drying and great for movement. Other features include a UPF 50+ rating, flat seams, built-in shorts and an inside pocket.

With all those features and benefits, it’s no wonder that this dress already has 62 reviews and ratings, and nearly five stars. One person wrote that this dress was great for this time of year, writing, “Love for the summer!” Someone even shared a picture of them wearing this dress while on a vacation to Mykonos, Greece and looked fabulous.

Of course, one of the biggest compliments that keep popping up is just how comfortable and complimentary this dress is.

“This is cute and comfy,” one reviewer said. “I was worried it would show my mommy pouch but it actually does a good job at hiding it.”

Another shopper called it “flattering and cute” and said it helped them “feel comfortable in my skin” for the first time. They also have a “mommy pooch” and found this “super flattering.” And yet another person wrote that this active dress is “great for short girls!”

Airbrush Real Dress , $118 at Alo Yoga

In addition to all of those fantastic reviews, Target’s newer halter active dress looks very similar to Alo Yoga’s Airbrush Real Dress , which currently costs $118 and comes in four colors, including black which matches Target’s offerings. Alo Yoga’s dress has a slight v-neck, a halter neckline and something similar to racerback straps. This dress also has a similar classic fitted, A-line active dress look. The Airbrush Real Dress also has built-in shorts with pockets, along with a “shelf bra.” It’s made with “soft, sculpting Airbrush fabric” that gives compression and is made for medium-impact activities. Their Airbrush fabric is described as “cotton-y matte” and “smooth and soft.”

While it’s hard to compare these two dresses in terms of fabric, it’s easy to see how close Alo Yoga’s dress is to Target’s Women's Knit Halter Active Woven Dress . And with so many positive reviews, this one is worth a trip to the nearest Target.
