MAURY, N.C. (WNCT) — People in the northeast parts of Greene County are now going to have access to better emergency care.

The county cut the ribbon on the Greene County EMS Station 3 in Maury on Friday. Officials said they realized a need for a facility in the area when a study found about half of their calls were from there. Having an ambulance there will cut the response time in half.

“For our area, we do not have a in-county hospital,” said Brock Kearney, Greene County Emergency Services director. “So we have to transport patients to the hospital, to our surrounding counties. So when you compound that response time from somebody, residents to a hospital, we had a response time from our station to the residents. It just it was it was paramount to have a new facility built.”

The building also has a sleeping and kitchen area for first responders.
