A 19-year-old was arrested after allegedly setting his own car on fire over the weekend in Tigard.

Saturday morning, June 22, police responded to multiple reports of a car fire in the 15000 block of Southwest Sundew Drive, authorities said in a release.

According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, deputies found a 1997 Toyota Camry fully engulfed in flames. The fire had spread to a nearby tree, sending embers toward an unoccupied home.

During their investigation, deputies learned that Ethan Mills, a Portland resident, owned the vehicle. Police allege that Mills started the fire after previously breaking out the car's windows. He was later found nearby and taken into custody.

Mills was lodged in the Washington County Jail and faces charges of first-degree arson, recklessly endangering another person and second-degree criminal mischief.

Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue responded to extinguish the blaze. No injuries were reported.
