Sometimes being a new mom means putting your interests on the back burner until your babies are old enough to take care of themselves. One Maine Coon mama named Honey proves you can be respnsible and still have fun.

In a June 27, 2024 TikTok video posted by @wildmane_mainecoons , Honey can't help but let her kitten side shine through! Watch the cuteness overload below!

In the adorable 20-second video captioned, "Mama needs her self care too," sweet Honey, who just gave birth a mere week ago, found a clever way to multitask. While the mama lies on the bed to feed her babies, she's overtaken by the curious cord within her reach. She stares at it a moment before letting her inner kitten come through, pawing at the cord as if hoping it'll play right back.

The babies, named Winnie, Tigger, and Tanga, are healthy and thriving, as posted in a series of follow-up videos , and it's all thanks to Honey's incredible motherly instincts. Many of her fans reacted with the utmost support for a little side quest playtime for the feline. After all, moms can have fun, too!

"I didn't even see the babies at first her hair hid them," one person wrote. "How sweet is this," another said. "Awee so cute! I would like to get one, orange cats are really brave and sweet," another remarked.

When Do Maine Coon Kittens Wean From Mom?

Honey sure looks like a natural feeding her hungry babes, and that's a good thing because she still has a ways to go before they're weaned. In general (and in a perfect world), mamas will begin weaning their kittens around four weeks. It's usually when they begin moving more on their own, can more their tail, and have starting growing canine teeth they'll begin the process of limited access to mom's milk .

WebMD indicates weaning a kitten can take four to six weeks, making them ready for the world between eight and 10 weeks. However, if they aren't yet able to stand on their own, their eyes aren't open yet, or play, they're not ready to wean, and any kitten under three weeks is considered neonatal and typically won't be weaned unless they've been orphaned and need human intervention.

Honey doesn't seem to be in a hurry for her little ones to go. She gets to relax with them and still have fun at the same time—who can blame her? Great job, Honey!
