Drew Basile 's Jeopardy! winning streak came to an end, but fans think he threw the game on purpose.

The quiz whizzes all kicked off the show early in the red. For quite a few questions, they only kept plummeting further down into the hole. Drew found himself bottoming out at third place, a spot that the seven day champion was unfamiliar with. Unfortunately, Drew lost his streak after struggling to maintain a lead and fumbling Final Jeopardy!. Under the category Notable American Women, the clue was: "In her autobiography she tells of a rather 'singular coincidence,' that one of her Swiss ancestors was a teacher of the deaf."

He went into the round with $9,600, betting $8,399 on his incorrect answer of Gallaudet, knocking him to $1,201. He still narrowly beat out Andrew Fox who correctly guessed Hellen Keller, bringing him up from $600 to $1,200. Cat Pisacano took the lead after answering correctly. She bet nearly all of her $5,800 and ended up finishing the game in first place at $11,500.

Fans were disappointed by the results, expecting Drew to go much further. They were also perplexed by Drew's incorrect guess. One wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: "So did Drew throw in the towel on #jeopardy, because it sure seemed like he didn't want to be there anymore? Final was way too easy for him to have missed it."

"This is certainly not how I expected Drew's reign to end," said another. A third chimed in: "Gallaudet? I just checked and first name Thomas. Drew, we have a problem!"

Before the end, Drew dished about his relationship. He told host Ken Jennings: "It's an unlucky game, but I'm very lucky to have a wonderful girlfriend. We met in college, first day of school at a frat party and then COVID happened and I kind of thought to myself, 'Hmm there's something there,' you know, so I decided, what the heck. I'll move on a lark to Philly, you know, which is where I go to school and just see what happens and that was the beginning of a wonderful four year long relationship and, you know, I'm blessed to have her."

"Drew, the tribe has spoken…" a fan referenced the grad student's Survivor run as he exited the show. Others celebrated, remembering that Drew will be receiving an automatic invite to the Tournament of Champions after his iconic run.
