EVENSVILLE — The Rhea County UT Extension Office will be offering a canning class in July at the Rhea County Fairgrounds.

“Join us to learn how to preserve food safely! This class is specially designed for individuals with little or no experience canning,” UT Extension Office officials said. “However, anyone who would like to brush up on their skills is welcome. This class is for anyone age 12 and up.”

The class will be held Thursday, July 11, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Rhea County Fairgrounds Master Gardener Building. The cost is $30 per person. Due to space and equipment constraints, the registration limit is 20 people. The class will be taught by Meagen Brown, Meigs County FCS Agent, and Kinsey Hixson, Rhea County FCS Agent.

Registration fees can be mailed or dropped off and must be sent as soon as possible to secure your spot. Fees can be paid with cash or check.

Registration fees can be paid at UT/TSU Extension Rhea County, 125 Court Street 3, Dayton, TN, 37321.
