Bryce James spoke with a friend on Instagram Live earlier today when he was asked about playing with his father, LeBron James . Bryce immediately shut that down, pointing out that might be too much even for him to conquer, as he will be 42 by then, and may struggle physically by that point in his career.

“I ain’t going to lie - that’s OD. Waiting until I… Nah, that’s too much. They said my dad is still going to be in the league when I get drafted. That’s too much. Nah. Look, he’s 39. He’s going to be 42, bro.”

No matter what Bryce may want, he is being realistic about the prospect of playing with his father in the NBA. Bryce James is currently in his senior year of high school at Sierra Canyon, where he has wowed scouts with his physicality and athleticism. While it is still early, James is said to have offers already from Ohio State and Duquesne to play college basketball.

Bryce could attract more offers this year if he has a standout senior year at Sierra Canyon. His brother Bronny was a McDonald's All-American in his senior year, and Bryce will be hoping to earn the same honor. Scouts expect Bryce to be a more sought-after prospect due to his bigger frame and better athleticism compared to his brother.

Will LeBron James Get To Play With Bryce Before He Retires?

Fans are almost guaranteed to see LeBron James play with his son Bronny next season. And while Bronny will not be a regular bench player for the Lakers , with most expecting him to spend time in the G League, there is still excitement about the inevitable minutes LeBron and his son will be on the court together.

For LeBron James to be able to play with Bryce, he would have to play till the 2026-27 NBA season . By then, James will be 42 years old, as Bryce pointed out. However, it isn't impossible for LeBron to still be playing in the league. Despite nearing 40, LeBron is still one of the best players in the league and has taken very good care of himself physically.

LeBron James is focused on his free agency at the moment, although there is very little doubt about where he will end up next season. He is expected to sign a max contract with the Lakers, although the length of it will provide fans with more clarity about LeBron's career planning in this late stage.

James is still a superstar in the NBA, with him averaging 25.7 points, 8.3 assists, and 7.3 rebounds in 71 games last season.

The Lakers will be hoping to capitalize on his greatness as soon as possible. New head coach JJ Redick has a great relationship with LeBron James and will hope to maximize LeBron en route to a championship run this year. With the stacked Western Conference, the Lakers face a tough challenge. But they have the tools to make a run.
