J.M. Biggs: Avoid things that God dislikes

The church really needs to know about these things, because almost everyone is doing them.

First, people are talking about preachers. I have heard with my own ears, and have seen it on social media. People talk about preachers like they are dogs. Apparently they have not read in the Bible where it says: “Touch not my anointing, or do my prophets (or preachers) no harm.”

Anyone engaging in such talk is subject to getting a stroke in their mouth or even dropping dead. I don’t care if the preachers have begun to live a sinful life. The Bible says: “Be still and know that I am God.” Besides, who knows if they are at the midnight hour and have fallen on their face and repented to God. A lot of people are crippled or in the ground because of that hurtful talk.

Second, people are lying. So many people tell lies, it is now considered a part of life. People tell lies but don’t want to be told one. Sadly, in the church, there are some of the worst liars in the world.

God said a liar shall not tarry in his sight. Yet many Christians lie all the time in some form or fashion. But in church, you hear how much these same people love the Lord. Let us not forget that the devil is a liar and the father of all lies.

Third, people are engaging in sexual lust. Many church members are addicted to some form of pornography. Some have allowed the devil to make their cellphones an object of evil. If you have internet on your phone, sex is readily available. It has become an instrument to teach children about sex.

You may say, “My child is not watching that stuff,” but if you give the enemy one opportunity, he will take full advantage of it. The cellphone alone has turned a lot of people into lust and sex addicts. To think, the church plays a major part in this.

Fourth, people have become unforgiving. Jesus said: “If you will not forgive your brother, then I will not forgive you.” The apostle Peter asked Jesus; “How many times do I forgive my brother — until seven times? Jesus answered and said, “Not seven, but 70 times 7.” To think that some people have held grudges in their hearts for years, until the point where they are sick as a dog.

Fifth, people are filled with hate. I don’t even have to explain how bad hate is in the church. But I will tell you this — wherever there is hate in the church, the devil has taken a seat in there also. Jesus has commanded us to love one another, as he has loved us.

The sixth is slowfulness. Everyone who is saved (born again) has a job to do while on Earth. The Lord has given every one of us our own assignment to be accomplished before our end comes.

But a lot of the saints have become lazy. They only want to go to church and hear a good message on Sunday. The rest of the week is all about them. The Bible says that the slowful saints shall be cast into outer darkness, where there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Listen, the Lord loves us very much. But he is a holy God and he wants his children to live a holy life. But he’s not going to make us. If we don’t want him, he doesn’t want us.
