A much-changed Argentina side will play their third and final group-stage game of 2024 Copa America, with the holders up against Peru on Saturday.

Lionel Messi's men are currently undefeated and have won both of their opening games against Canada and Chile.

They remain the outright favorites to win the whole thing, with final to be held at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on July 14.

An injury to Lionel Messi means that he will not play against Peru, and there are likely to be a raft of other changes as well, as coach Lionel Scaloni looks to shuffle his pack and rest key players with qualification already secured.

How will that affect their performance, and the likely betting options? The Sporting News provides the latest odds and best picks ahead of the game.

    Argentina vs. Peru prediction, odds

    • Moneyline lean: Argentina (-200)
    • Score prediction: Argentina 2-0 Peru

Argentina have been strong defensively and are yet to concede a goal, however, they haven't exactly been blowing teams away. They required a spirited second-half performance in the opener vs. Canada in Atlanta before needing a late winner from Lautaro Martinez vs. Chile. They are big favorites to win this one again, and should get the job done even with a host of changes in personnel.

    Argentina vs. Peru best bet

    • Pick: Argentina to score over 1.5 goals
    • Odds: -140 ( BetMGM )

Even without Messi, Argentina are the strong favorites in this match and they'll be expected to cruise to victory and win three from three group-stage matches. They're not a team that blows others out of the water, so the over on 2.5 goals would be a risk, however, 1.5 appears more manageable.

    Argentina vs. Peru prop bet

    • Pick: Julian Alvarez anytime goalscorer
    • Odds: +150 ( BetMGM )

Again, with Messi out, Alvarez can play more centrally in his preferred position and after scoring the opening goal of the tournament he's a good bet to be on the scoresheet again. The World Cup in 2022 saw Alvarez score four goals in seven appearances, and he will be expected to get a run going here as La Albiceleste head into the knockout stages.

    • Pick: Clean sheet for Argentina
    • Odds: +115 ( FanDuel )

The defense is arguably Argentina's biggest part of their game at this tournament, as they've looked solid as a rock. They are yet to concede a goal and with Peru also yet to score one, this seems a safe bet.
