Mary Earps reveals key reason for Manchester United exit with PSG deal imminent

England goalkeeper Mary Earps is set to complete a shock transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, departing Manchester United after five seasons.Earps is out of contract at United this summer, and despite the club making a strong offer, the England international has chosen to leave.PSG, who have been favorites to sign Earps, look set to beat Arsenal, who offered a world record fee last year for the 31-year-old's signature.Earps helped United capture the Women’s FA Cup last season, despite a disappointing fifth-place league finish.The Nottingham native also managed to clock 14 clean sheets, a WSL record, to help United finish second in the league in 2022-23.Earps has made 50 appearances for her country, including all six games at the 2022 European Championships, which England won.She was also part of the England side that made the World Cup Final in 2023, where they lost to Spain, with Earps winning the Golden Glove. In October 2023, Earps finished fifth in Ballon d’Or voting, the highest finish for a goalkeeper since the award was introduced in 2018.
