President Joe Biden's performance on Thursday night's debate has had people looking elsewhere for another potential candidate for the Democratic Party, with names such as Michelle Obama, Pete Buttigieg and Gov. Andy Beshear making the lists.

National and local outlets have listed Beshear as a potential replacement for Biden in the November presidential elections. The New York Times and The Washington Post have also listed Vice President Kamala Harris, Gov. Gavin Newsom of California and Gov. Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan.

Both news outlets cite Beshear's popularity in a red state, with The New York Times pointing out Biden's unpopularity in Kentucky.

Courier Journal columnist Joe Gerth also talked about Beshear being discussed as a potential presidential replacement for Biden, but said Democrats would not turn to him as Kentucky is not favorable for the party.

Politicians have also pointed to Beshear as a potential presidential nominee. In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Kentucky Secretary of State Michael Adams, who is a Republican, mentioned a potential Beshear presidential candidacy a little more than half an hour from the debate's start.

“The Beshear presidential candidacy doesn't sound so crazy now, does it?" Adams said on X.
