“I have noticed with women over 50, they are looking for a classic, true red which is the most versatile shade,” Lippmann starts. “They want to be able to take it from day to night and essentially have it work as a neutral manicure.”

The polish is long-lasting! “I’ve used this polish for several years and love it! I had a pedicure March 10th and this picture was taken June 1. The polish is still very shiny and not chipped. I use the the whole Deborah Lippmann nail line with the basecoat and top coat. This red polish is called Lady is a Tramp. It’s a true red. I’m 80 years old and still like to have painted toes. It’s like a Gel polish treatment without the cost and rigmarole.”

The polish protects! “I get compliments all the time only with this product. It’s worth the price but to get the ‘wet look’, the trick is to give yourself 3 coats and use her top coat every other day. Use dishwashing gloves and lotion on your hands daily. I find that cuticle creams can undermine the coverage so I apply that once I remove the polish and give my nails a break. Frankly, my nails are so thin and split easily so polish actually protects them. Take biotin too;)”

The polish is the perfect shade of red! “I’m on a constant quest for a red polish that is bright, but not too. Red but with not too much blue or orange. Well, I think this red polish might just be the holy grail. It goes on smooth, the polish is even, creamy, and the brush is the right size. Love it.”

If you don’t have time to make it to the salon, painting your own nails or using at at-home manicure kit is a great supplement. Lippmann has some expert advice when it comes to doing your own nails, and it all starts the the cuticles!

“My biggest tip for at-home manicures is to not forget to give some love to your cuticles,” she says. “When doing at-home manicures, many tend to skip the step of tending to their cuticles, which is an essential step both for the overall health of your nails and for the lifespan of your manicure.”
