Lucca Comics & Games has unveiled a new poster created by Yoshitaka Amano for 2024 and some of this year’s lineup, including a touching D&D dedication!

Lucca Comics & Games is making a return in 2024 with the announcement of the lineup attendees can expect so far. They have also released a poster called the Overture by Yoshitaka Amano as it’s dedicated to Puccini’s Tosca. Known for his character design in the Final Fantasy series, Amano has also designed two more posters that will be arriving in September and October. Alongside the posters, some of the lineups we can expect are the preview of Squid Game 2 from Netflix, an anniversary celebration for Dungeons & Dragon s and Tetris as guests arrive from Europe, Japan, and North Africa.

Something major to note this year is Dungeons & Dragons’ 50th anniversary, where Lucca Comics & Games and the city of Lucca will be paying special tribute. Read more below!

Focusing a bit more on the posters, Yoshitaka Amano has created three posters centring around the theme of Butterfly Effect for the Locca Comics & Games expo in Italy. The Overture is the first poster to be revealed, as it’s dedicated to Puccini’s Tosca. The designs of Overture focus on two characters embracing each other as they capture the energy of the festival and the variety of colours of its audience of butterflies. The next poster to arrive in September is dedicated to Madama Butterfly and the last poster will be unveiled on October 30th as it’s linked to the immortal princess Turandot to reflect the creativity and passion of Lucca Comics & Games .

Alongside the dedication to Puccini Tosca as we approach his centenary, the theme Butterfly Effect is a reference to the Chaos Theory, meaning a small change could lead to big consequences. This may be quite familiar if you have ever played the Until Dawn game as it relies on the Butterfly Effect mechanic, and this time around, it will be the core theme in Lucca Comics & Games to represent the three acts of the Opera.

Moving on from the posters and the theme meaning, we will be shifting focus on the lineups that attendees can expect to see during the exciting Lucca Comics & Games Expo in 2024!
