    The BET Awards are set to air on Sunday, June 30, with a highly anticipated performance by Will Smith . Drake , who recently made headlines for his feud with Kendrick Lamar , leads the nominations this year with seven nods, followed by Nicki Minaj , who has six, and J. Cole , Sexyy Red , SZA and Victoria Monét , who each have five.

    The nominations were handed down by the BET Voting Academy, which is made up of journalists, entertainment professionals, public relations agents and more.

    The Color Purple actress will host this year's ceremony, marking her third time in the role.

    “I am thrilled to be returning as the host of the ‘BET Awards’ for the third time,” Henson said in a statement. “I am also looking forward to celebrating my peers and the impact of our culture on entertainment.”

    Over on Instagram, the BET Awards gushed over their host , writing: "We know she'll bring her unmatched charisma, radiant energy, and undeniable star power to the stage ... We can't wait to see the magic she brings to this unforgettable night of celebration and excellence!"
