"Summer National Empty the Shelters" to reduce adoption fees

GREEN COUNTY & ROCK COUNTY, Wis. -- Bissell Pet Foundation announced Wednesday it is hosting its "Summer National Empty the Shelters" event at the Green County Humane Society and the Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin .

From July 8-31, Bissell said it will sponsor reduced adoption fees, so that shelters can charge $50 or less to rehome their animals. Adoption dates vary by shelter, and can be found on the Empty the Shelters website .

Bissell said the program aims to help shelters struggling with a variety of problems, including forced evacuation, overcrowding, and more. Adoptable animals will be fully vaccinated, micro-chipped, and spayed or neutered.

If you are not able to adopt an animal, but still want to contribute to the cause, Bissell Pet foundation said fostering is a great way to save pets' lives when the shelters are full.
