Cyndi Lauper's performance at Glastonbury caused quite a stir online, with some fans at Worthy Farm deciding to exit her set early . The legendary 71-year-old singer, known for her hit Girls Just Want To Have Fun, took the Pyramid Stage on Saturday afternoon.

She started off with a nod to the 80s, performing The Goonies 'R' Good Enough, despite some initial microphone issues that seemed to be resolved by the end of her act. Cyndi even gave the crowd a solo recorder interlude during her second song.

The American pop icon briefly left the stage mid-performance to handle "one little thing" and then returned to deliver a powerful version of her hit track, 'I Drove All Night', which was met with applause at its climax. Speaking to the Glastonbury crowd, Cyndi expressed her joy at playing the festival and wished a "happy Pride for those celebrating".

Before starting Change Of Heart, she joked about an incident while dancing in Leicester Square for the 1986 track's video, where she stepped on "some of the pansies" and laughed that she's "not allowed there anymore". However, after performing Girls Just Want To Have Fun, there was a noticeable exodus of festival-goers from her show. A Mirror journalist at the concert reports that Cyndi seemed upset as the crowd dwindled post-hit.

Before belting out her iconic anthem, Cyndi Lauper made a powerful statement to the Glastonbury crowd: "It's time world leaders recognised that women are half of the population."

As she launched into 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun', the sound quality surged, echoing the spirit of the 2017 women's marches where pink "Pussyhats" became a symbol of resistance.

Cyndi addressed the audience, recounting, "I was watching TV and I saw all these women all over the world marching, with some pink hats and... my friend called me up and said 'to get the hell out there (Cyndi)' so I did I went out and I saw the signs that said Girls Just Want To Have Fundamental Rights, that's right."

She also announced her partnership with the Girls Just Want To Have Fundamental Rights Fund on Saturday, aimed at supporting organizations worldwide that empower women, including those fighting for reproductive rights and bodily autonomy.

Highlighting the importance of maternal health, Cyndi praised the White Ribbon Alliance, emphasizing their advocacy before reiterating: "It is time that the world leaders understand that women are half the population of the world and we deserve to be treated equally, no matter where we're from or what we look like."

Cyndi Lauper gave a nod to her UK fans during her Glastonbury performance, even giving a shout-out to the West End's "Kinky Boots" in the middle of "My Father's Son" and mentioning her "Change Of Heart" music video shot in London's iconic Leicester Square. The legendary singer's set at the festival sparked a range of reactions from the online crowd.

One viewer took to Twitter, commenting: "Cyndi Lauper's struggling a bit at #Glastonbury - the crowd are giving her a large helping hand."

Another tweet read: "She looks fantastic though, and easy to forget she's 71 years old. We had Blondie doing it this time last year, and Debbie Harry was 77 years old at the time."

Yet, not everyone was critical, with one fan noting: "Cyndi Lauper looking a little worse for wear her tbf."

A different user speculated about technical issues: "I wonder if Cyndi Lauper's band has in-ear monitoring delay issues. Cyndi seems to be singing half a beat behind everyone, and they all feel oddly disjointed, especially for an American session outfit."

Support for Lauper also came through strongly, as one supporter clapped back: "Same bores whinging about Dua Lipa are on Cyndi Lauper now. if you want perfectly performed and recorded guitar widdling. go f**k off and listen to the eagles."

And another fan simply stated: "Cyndi Lauper still got it."

In recent news, Lauper announced her plans for a farewell tour slated for later this year.
