Major Hurricane Beryl remains at Category 3 strength as it begins to move over the Lesser Antilles with wind speeds at 120 mph. Beryl beat Audrey from 1957 as the strongest June hurricane on record.

The National Hurricane Center Forecast Cone shows the westward track through the Caribbean Sea. Current strength forecasts bring Beryl back up to Category 4 strength in the next 24 hours. Wind speeds could get as strong as 130 mph. Beryl is forecast to start weakening late in the week as it nears the Yucatan Peninsula.

Tropical models are consistent with the westward track through the Caribbean Sea as well. As of now, the models keep it well south of Louisiana as it moves over the Yucatan Peninsula and then into the Bay of Campeche this weekend. Global models are showcasing a strong area of high pressure aloft over Louisiana, so that should keep impacts well south of the area.

Tropical Storm Chris developed quickly in the Bay of Campeche overnight and has already made landfall in Mexico. No impacts are expected from this system either.
