A wild storm caused a temporary suspension of the 2024 European Championship round of 16 clash between Denmark and Germany in Dortmund on Saturday.

Thunder, lightning and a torrential downpour at Signal Iduna Park spurred officials to halt play in a 0-0 tie during the 36th minute of the match.

“Due to adverse weather conditions, the match has been suspended. Further information will follow shortly,” a statement on the stadium screen read.

The game resumed after about a 25-minute delay and a brief warm-up for the players.

Public viewings of the match in Dortmund were canceled due to the turbulent weather, according to the BBC .

Many fans in attendance opted to take cover under the overhangs in the stadium as they waited the storm out.

For a moment, the storm created a makeshift waterfall that streamed from the rafters down to the sidelines inside the stadium.

A couple of soccer fans took the delay to have some fun with it, including several people dancing in the makeshift waterfalls.

Roughly 53 minutes into the match, Germany took a 1-0 lead over Denmark with a goal from Kai Havertz, and they added one more for a 2-0 win.
