    Pulse finishes 20th at U.S. Olympic Trials

    EUGENE, Ore. (USD) — South Dakota senior Jacy Pulse finished 20th in the 400-meter hurdles at the U.S. Olympic Trials on Saturday evening at Hayward Field.

    Pulse took 20th in the semifinal round of the 400-meter hurdles with a clocking of 56.59 seconds. It marks her fifth time crossing the finish line under 57 seconds in the event this spring.

    A native of Salem, South Dakota, Pulse was a two-time All-American in the 400 hurdles for the Coyotes. She holds South Dakota’s program record with a time of 56.11 seconds set at the 2023 NCAA West Preliminary meet. She was named the Summit League Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year this spring fro the second-straight season.

    USD assistant throws coach Maggie Ewen took sixth in the shot put on Saturday with a mark of 61-1 ¼ (18.62m).

    The U.S. Olympic Trials wrap up Sunday with alumna Emily Grove in the women’s pole vault finals at 5:15 p.m. Central.

    South Dakota alumnus Chris Nilsen made Team USA last weekend in the men’s pole vault. He will represent his country and alma mater at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris this August.
