As the 4th of July approaches, the Kent Police Department is reminding residents that all forms of personal fireworks are illegal in the city. This prohibition is enforced under Kent City Code 13.05, which was adopted following a majority vote on Advisory Proposition 1 in 2015.

Residents are encouraged to report any fireworks violations by calling the Kent Police Non-Emergency line at 253-852-2121. Officials stress that 911 should only be used if there is an immediate safety concern.

The Kent Police Department aims to ensure a safe holiday by reducing the risks associated with personal fireworks.
