Former Manchester United forward Dwight Yorke has cast doubt on Arne Slot's potential success at Liverpool , following his appointment as the successor to Jurgen Klopp .

Klopp resigned from his position at Anfield after the previous season, and Slot, who clinched both the Eredivisie title and Dutch Cup with Feyenoord, is now in the hot seat. Yet, Yorke remains sceptical about his suitability for the role.

In a conversation with Crypto Casinos, Yorke questioned the track record of Dutch managers abroad, excluding Louis van Gaal, and expressed scepticism regarding Slot's ability to adjust to the English game.

He commented: "Can anyone confidently say there has been a good Dutch manager outside of the Netherlands in recent years? I think Arne Slot will fail to impress, the same way Erik ten Hag has.

"The Dutch philosophy has been a thing for 25 years now, the legacy seems to live on even though their national team isn't even that good anymore. No Dutch manager has stood out to me, other than Louis van Gaal, but top clubs like Liverpool and Man United are signing these Dutch managers based on Johan Cruyff's philosophy.

"Ronald Koeman is another one who has struggled. Arne Slot did do well in the Eredivisie but you'd also expect managers at the top Dutch clubs to do well since there are not a lot of teams in that league that can compete with the top. But Slot hasn't shown any proof that he can adapt to British football and neither has any other Dutch manager."

New Liverpool manager Arne Slot is optimistic about the club's future, aiming to improve on their third-place finish from Klopp's last season. "I think 82 points is a result of [the] playing style. Always the points you get is always a result of the way you play," he said in an interview with the club's media team.

Slot has been closely observing both matches and training sessions, noting, "I've seen many games already, I've seen many training sessions as well. Of course, the fans can see the games, so they know we have some very good players. But I've also seen a lot of training sessions already and I think this is where you bring the culture, and they are always working hard like the fans see during the game."

He acknowledged Liverpool's quality and past successes, stating, "[A] real good team, real good players, managed to be on top for a very long time, but I think in the end we would all love to see Liverpool a bit higher than third place and this is the challenge we are facing now to build on from what we have."

Confident in his squad, Slot believes that with strategic enhancements, Liverpool can surpass the 82-point mark. "I have all the confidence in this because of the players, that we can add a few things where we hopefully can get a bit more points than 82, which is necessary with the likes of Arsenal and City, to end up hopefully a bit higher than we did this season."
