I Saw Emma Chamberlain Wearing Lancôme's Chic New Eye Shadow, so I Bought Lancôme's Chic New Eye Shadow

This time around, I'm highlighting Lancôme's Idôle Tint Liquid Eyeshadow and Eyeliner ($30).

Most days, I like to keep my makeup routine pretty simple. A good tinted moisturizer or foundation, blush, mascara, and a brow pencil are usually all I need, but occasionally, I like to spice things up. When I do, I reach for something like Lancôme's Idôle Tint Liquid Eyeshadow and Eyeliner ($30)—a newer offering from the brand that I now can't get enough of. Like I said above, I love anything that's quick and easy to incorporate into my regular makeup routine, and this definitely fits the bill.

I first fell in love with this offering from Lancôme after spotting Emma Chamberlain sporting the shade Canyon Clay on the red carpet at the Met Gala. (You can check it out below.) It was a sight to behold, and I knew I had to get this shade and a few others for myself immediately. To say I was wowed would be an understatement. The richly colored shades! The pigment payoff!

If you're looking for a gorgeous, easy-to-use eye shadow that also doubles as a liner you can swipe on in seconds, you'll definitely want to give this one a go. Naturally, I couldn't fathom trying just one shade. I had to try at least five. If you'd like to see what they can do, keep scrolling!

Idôle Tint Liquid Eyeshadow and Eyeliner

What really drew me in was the pigment payoff with these shadows. I was inspired by Chamberlain's Met Gala look that featured the shade Canyon Clay (which I got, of course) and wanted to play around with both the shimmer and matte shades. I first tried a few of the shimmers, which are totally unreal. In the above photo, I'm wearing the shade Sand Storm, a lush, vibrant, and shimmery orange that works so well for Black and Brown skin tones. It also just screams summer to me. I love the easy applicator that allows you to apply it directly to your eye without a brush. All you have to do is swipe and let it dry a bit before moving on to the rest of your makeup.

Over the years, I've picked up a few key tips for applying liquid eye shadows like this, especially if you're like me and have hooded eyes. First, if you'd like to create a smokier look or would like a more seamless and blended look, a brush can definitely come in handy. Although I did swipe the product directly onto my lid, I also used a crease brush to buff it out a bit higher toward my brow bone. It took me a while to learn how to do my makeup because my eyes are so hooded—most eye shadows don't show up if I don't buff them out above my lid area. I finally realized that I have to apply my shadow significantly higher in order for it to really pop. If you have similar eyes, this tip is key for these shadows. They show up beautifully if you buff them out a bit higher on the lid. You can even add a transition shade in the crease of the eye to give it dimension. I always like using the transition shades in the Makeup by Mario Ethereal Eyes Palette.

Also, an eye primer is key. I know there are makeup artists out there who aren't fans of primer for any area of the face, but I swear by it. You also don't have to use a separate primer—you can use a concealer on the lid to create the perfect base for the shadow to sit on. I used that as a base before applying the above shade, and what a difference it made. It just sits on the lid better when there's something for it to grip on to, and it doesn't smudge or smear throughout the night if you plan to wear it out.

Overall, these eye shadows are so pretty and summery. I don't normally wear anything too dramatic on the lids, but these provide such an easy way for you to spice up any look. Sometimes, if I'm feeling lazy and need to apply my makeup quickly for an event, I just swipe and dab one of these on and let it dry. I love how versatile they are, and I can't wait to play around with more of the matte shades. Lancôme, you've done it again!
