Armed robbery, officer-involved shooting in Bulloch Co.

BROOKLET, Ga. (WSAV)- The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is investigating after an armed robbery that turned into a chase, and ended in an officer involved shooting occurred near Brooklet late Thursday night.

Around 9:54 p.m., BCSO received a call for an armed robbery at the Marathon Store on Hwy 80 East.

Deputies reportedly noticed the suspect vehicle, a large U-Haul moving truck, which

refused to stop.

Deputies then pursued the truck and attempted to force it to stop.

According to officials, the suspect intentionally struck multiple law enforcement vehicles and almost hit several deputies who had gotten out on foot.

The chase continued out Hwy 301 North where deputies and GSP were finally able to stop the vehicle, which crashed into some power lines.

Shots were fired by multiple law enforcement officers during the incident, which resulted in the death of the suspect.

Parts of Highway 301 were closed so police could continue their investigation, but as of 8:45 a.m., Friday, the roadway is back open.

GBI will be the lead agency conducting this investigation.
