Renowned sportscaster John Anderson may have bid goodbye to ESPN, but that doesn't mean he'll stop doing what he loves. While Anderson has retired from SportsCenter and the network, he has another job lined up.

No, Anderson won't be going back to television and anchoring a new sports show. Instead, he's set to bring his broadcasting experience and knowledge to the academe.

According to USA Today, Anderson is set to join the University of Missouri School of Journalism as a member of the faculty. A news release from the University earlier in the week confirmed Anderson's decision.

"John has kept fans and aspiring sports journalists in the know for more than two decades, and I’m so excited that he has chosen to bring that experience back to his alma mater for the benefit of new generations of students," David Kurpius, the dean of the University of Missouri School of Journalism, said.

John Anderson earned his journalism degree from the University of Missouri--considered one of the top journalism schools in the nation--where he graduated in 1987. He landed the SportsCenter hosting job in 1999 and held the position for 25 years until his final broadcast aired on Friday, June 28.

Before his final SportsCenter episode ended, Anderson received heartfelt messages from his ESPN colleagues. He then proceeded to share his farewell before signing off.

It was indeed an incredible career for Anderson. Now, he's ready to help nurture the next generation of broadcast leaders.
