England have showed signs of fighting back in the opening minutes of the second half – but were still down when the whistle blew.
Slovakia went ahead in the 27th minute after Ivan Schranz netted an opener.
At home, thousands of people in England shirts have headed to pubs and fanzones for the knock-out match.
Snaps show fans in St George costumes, lion onesies and patriotic hats posing with their pints as the match kicks off.
Earlier today fans had friendly chats with Slovakia fans or channelled their inner Judge Bellingham in kick-abouts.
People have also flooded Boxpark Wembley – where pints could be sent flying if England score.
And fans have also been enjoying the sunshine on Wembley Way and in cities and towns across the country.
Tennis ace Emma Raducanu was spotted heading for her Wimbledon warm-up in an England shirt.
Despite having the lion’s share of possession, England have looked quite blunt in attack.
They have fallen behind to a calm finish from Schranz and based on what we saw before the interval, you would not bet against Slovakia getting the next goal.
Gareth Southgate needs to earn his hefty salary during half-time, that is for sure.
