SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division investigated a nightclub after multiple complaints from the community.

According to the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office, deputies have been dispatched 77 times within the past 12 months to Club Glow / Glow Lounge located at 1441 Union Street.

The complaints came from business owners in the area reporting alleged littering, alcohol sales after hours, sexually oriented services, and erotic dancing.

Deputies have responded three times to the nightclub for shootings since the beginning of the year.

As a result of all these complaints, the Spartanburg County Gang Unit partnered with SLED to inspect Club Glow.

Deputies and SLED agents arrived at the nightclub at 2:10 a.m. on Friday to speak with the owner of the business.

Once deputies and SLED agents arrived at the scene, the staff locked the doors and denied them entry. Deputies said after several minutes of knocking they were allowed inside.

Once inside, deputies and SLED agents saw open liquor bottles still on the tables and a lot of money on the floor, and women “dressed erotically.”

Deputies said not only did the inside smell like cigarette smoke but it also smelled like marijuana.

Deputies began speaking with the women who said they were undressing for money.

Due to the sexual in nature acts, deputies reviewed The Code of the County of Spartanburg, South Carolina. Under Chapter 42 Health and Sanitation section 104-105 an establishment has to be at least 1,000 feet from a church or school.

According to the sheriff’s office, Club Glow / Glow Lounge is 750 feet from Solid Rock Church.

“A sexually orientated business is required under section 42-110 to obtain a
business for a sexually orientated business,” the incident report stated.

As of Friday, there have been no requests for that permit for Club Glow.

Several warrants were issued including violations concerning private security and refusal to permit inspection or search by ABC agents.

The sheriff’s office said they will forward its report to Spartanburg County administration for consultation and to have this location deemed a nuisance under this ordinance.
