Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout is on the mend as one of MLB's most endearing stars works toward a return.

Trout has been recovering from surgery to repair a meniscus tear he suffered at the end of April. Though initial reports suggested a potential return timeline of roughly six weeks, Trout has urged caution in his rehab.

It's been two months since Trout went under the knife, and it appears the Angels superstar is likely to miss another.

Trout told reporters Saturday that he is "basically pain-free" and is hopeful to return to action by the end of July.

Trout also mentioned that he hasn't started running yet, and there's no specific timeline for his return. But mentioning the end of July gives a rough estimate.

The 32-year-old star was having a solid season before suffering the injury. At the time of his injury, Trout's 10 home runs were tied for the most in MLB with Gunner Henderson. His .541 slugging percentage ranked 17th in MLB while he posted a solid .867 OPS.

The Angels find themselves on a six-game winning streak entering Sunday but are still 9.5 games back in the division at 36-46.

Trout's return can't come soon enough, but the Angels will surely take a cautious approach.
