LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — After a soggy Saturday we finally see comfortable conditions settling into the Mid-Michigan area. This pattern continues into the week ahead before we have a little bit more clouds and heat return for the holiday weekend.

A cold front passed overnight allowing for cooler and drier air to move in temperatures this morning are in the upper 50s with dew points already into the 40s which will make it feel like an early fall day not a day in late June!

Cooler and sunny conditions continue for most of the day with temperatures in the upper 60s to low 70s which is almost 10 to 20 degrees below average (typically we see temperatures in the low 80s for this time of year). With those cooler temperatures, we will also have a cooler northerly wind gusting around 20 mph through the day.

If you have any outdoor plans today, keep the three S’s handy — sunglasses, sweatshirt, and sunscreen! Even though it’s chilly today our UV index is still in the 7 to 8 range which means you can burn in about 15 to 20 minutes!

Tonight you can give the air conditioners a break and open the windows to allow cooler and refreshing air into the house as temperatures fall into the mid to upper 40s with mostly clear skies.

Our taste of fall continues into Monday with temperatures warming into the mid-70s with calmer winds but still plenty of sunshine so keep the three S’s handy again Monday!

Clouds and temperatures start to increase as we head into Tuesday, that’s because the high-pressure system that has been providing us with quiet weather will shift east allowing for warmer southern winds to move into the area. Temperatures for Tuesday warm into the upper 70s to low 80s with humidity starting to inch up. Our next chance to see storms looks to be late Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning as a cold front pushes back into the Mid-Michigan area.

While we are still quite a few days out and the forecast could change a bit by Thursday it’s good to keep the forecast in the back of your mind for the fourth of July. Right now we are looking partly to mostly cloudy and dry with temperatures into the low 80s. Showers look to hold off until late Thursday into Friday.
