BULLOCH COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) – A deputy-chase has ended in Bulloch County late Saturday evening.

According to Georgia State Patrol’s Corporal Aaron Ramirez, the chase began in Evans County.

He says deputies in Evans tried to stop the driver for having no headlights and possible impairment.

Ramirez says that he did not stop for deputies, instead fleeing for several miles into Bulloch County.

GSP attempted a pit maneuver as the suspect began approaching Statesboro, but they were unsuccessful.

Ramirez says after that, the driver made a U-turn and headed South on 301. Deputies and Troopers set up a box-in which the suspect drove through, striking both Bulloch and Evans squad cars.

On a second attempt at a box-in, they were able to stop the driver and arrest him. Ramirez says they ID’d him as Derric Jamel Harris with active warrants.

Ramirez says they suspect that Harris was impaired through drugs or alcohol. He says they found what they think is marijuana and fentanyl in his car.

According to GSP Harris refused a breathalyzer on the scene. He is being taken to the Bulloch County Jail to be booked.

    No injuries were reported.
