Sct. showers/storms early tonight; cooler & dry weather arrives on Monday

Sunday evening starts with a few lingering showers and storms, mainly across the south and west. As our cold front departs, rain chances will diminish tonight, and we should enjoy a dry yet chilly overnight. A few clouds will linger, and a northern breeze will help get temps down into the 50s!
Monday morning will be the chilly start along with the small risk of morning fog, though a northern breeze will likely keep most to all at bay. A few clouds to start the morning commute but building high pressure will erode away the clouds, leading to a sunny afternoon. Temps are expected to stay quite cool as they only get into the middle 70s.
Tuesday will be a fantastic day as high pressure once again dominates the forecast. We could see some patchy fog across our river valleys in the morning with clear skies around. That fog won’t last long as a clear morning gives way to a sunny afternoon as temps push into the low to middle 80s.
Wednesday should start with another decent morning in the 60s. As we develop a southerly breeze, our crisp morning will turn into the toasty and muggy afternoon with temps pushing into the middle to upper 80s. Can’t rule out an afternoon shower or thunderstorm, though chances look extremely isolated.
4th of July Thursday kicks off with a muggy morning in the upper 60s. A cold front arriving into northern WV will bring some extra cloud cover and the chance for a morning shower or two. With it stationed up to our north, we’ll see chances for showers and storms around in the afternoon though we should also see plenty of breaks so no need to completely cancel fireworks festivities or backyard grilling.
Friday follows suit with another day to pack a rain jacket just in case. The morning won’t be that bad again, just expect to be another muggy one with temps in the 60s. As temps rise into the 80s, scattered showers and even a few thunderstorms will be something to watch for as a cold front gets closer to our area.
Saturday will finally see our cold front cross, primarily during the early to late afternoon. This will bring in more chances for scattered showers and a few thunderstorms before clearing out Saturday night. Temps on Sunday are expected to once again reach the 80s.
Sunday is definitely looking like the better of the two weekend days to enjoy a break from the showers. Can’t rule out an isolated shower down to the south, but many look to finally catch a break. Most will end their weekend with partly cloudy skies and temps staying in the 80s.
In your extended forecast, we’re keeping an eye on more chances for rain into the following week as several shortwaves look to move through. We should see plenty of breaks between the showers, but it will also be nice to get some more rain back into the area.
