At the AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door pay-per-view, Britt Baker made a shocking return after being out of action since last year by confronting Mercedes Mone. Mercedes Mone competed against Stephanie Vaquer in a winner-take-all match for both the AEW TBS title and the NJPW Strong Women’s title.

The match featured stars from both AEW and NJPW giving their all with several close finishes. In the climax, Vaquer attempted a powerbomb, which Mercedes Mone countered with her Mone Maker move and transitioned into a cross-face submission. Mone rolled through and secured the cross-face submission, forcing Vaquer to tap out. Mercedes Mone won, retaining her AEW TBS Championship and capturing the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship.

However, Mercedes Mone’s celebration of her double-title victory was short-lived. Britt Baker interrupted her celebration, entering to a huge ovation from the fans in the arena. As Mone raised her titles, Baker stared her down from the stage. It appears that Mercedes Mone was unhappy with Britt Baker interrupting her celebration.

Mercedes Mone criticizes Britt Baker’s AEW Forbidden Door return

Mercedes Mone made history by becoming a double champion at the AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door pay-per-view. During the post-show press conferences, she was asked about Britt Baker’s return. Mone expressed that Baker had attempted to steal her spotlight after her significant victory.

She stated, “I know a certain BI*^CH wanted to come out and try to steal my spotlight tonight. But that’s not gonna happen because I’m gonna party all night long and show her that I am Mercedes Mone for a reason, and there is a price to pay when you interrupt me. Tonight was about me and my celebration. Who the hell does Britt Baker think that she is? She wants to show up to my show? I understand that she is the first ever woman to sign here to AEW, but Tony, am I correct that I am the biggest free agent that you’ve ever signed here? (Tony Khan: “Yeah, absolutely.”) So this Wednesday at Dynamite, to any woman that wants to come out here and steal my spotlight, it’s on.”

AEW Dynamite may see them square off as Mone hinted that Baker might be attempting to steal her spotlight. Everyone’s attention is now focused on Chicago’s Dynamite this week.
