    BUSINESS PEOPLE: Super Lawyers and Rising Star at Dickinson & Gibbons

    Attorneys at Dickinson & Gibbons, P.A., in Sarasota, have been selected as Florida Super Lawyers and Florida Rising Stars for 2024. Partners Deborah J. Blue, Gary H. Larsen and Jeffrey D. Peairs are Super Lawyers and Jesse R. Butler has been designated a Florida Rising Star.

    Super Lawyers, a service of Thomson Reuters, is a research-driven, peer-influenced rating service of outstanding lawyers who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. Attorneys are selected from more than 70 practice areas and all firm sizes, assuring a credible and relevant annual list.

    The annual selections are made using a patented multiphase process that includes peer nominations, independent research by Super Lawyers and evaluations from a highly credentialed panel of attorneys.

    Blue is board certified in marital and family law. This is her 17th year as a Florida Super Lawyer. She is ranked AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell.

    Larsen, a board-certified civil trial lawyer and Florida Supreme Court Certified Mediator, mediates in all areas of civil litigation. This is his 11th year as a Super Lawyer and he is ranked AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell.

    Peairs is a board-certified civil trial lawyer and Florida Supreme Court Certified Mediator who specializes in complex litigation matters. Peairs is ranked AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell.

    Butler is a board-certified appellate attorney and a member of the Florida Bar Board of Governors. His trial practice focuses on cases involving legal malpractice, deceptive and unfair trade practices, consumer law and general civil and commercial litigation. He holds the Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent rating.

    Visit Sarasota County has hired Hunter Carpenter as the director of Partnership and Community Relations.

    Carpenter will oversee the organization’s relationships with local businesses by connecting them with opportunities the VSC team offers to showcase their own offerings to visitors around the world. He will also educate residents of the region about VSC’s roles and why the sustainable growth of our local tourism industry is critical to all.

    A Sarasota native, Carpenter joins VSC from First Watch Restaurant Group, where he spent several years as the public relations manager, guiding earned media and storytelling strategies to support more than 530 restaurants nationwide.

    Prior to this, Carpenter was the manager of Communications and Marketing at the Community Foundation of Sarasota County.

    He holds a master’s degree in mass communications from the University of Florida, as well as an Accreditation in Public Relations (APR). He is the president-elect of the Central West Coast Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association for 2024-2025.

    The Ramos Center for Interventional and Functional Pain Medicine has added Dr. Ryan Budwany to its team of physicians. Budwany, a highly skilled interventional pain medicine physician, will be based in the Sarasota office, serving patients across the region.

    Dr. Budwany is a board-certified physician specializing in interventional pain and functional medicine. He completed his medical specialty training at WVU Ruby Memorial Hospital and his medical degree from Mercer University School of Medicine.

    His academic journey includes a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from Emory University, a Master of Public Health in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety from Dartmouth College, and a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Management from the University of Massachusetts.

    Prior to joining the Ramos Center, Dr. Budwany honed his expertise under the mentorship of Dr. Tim R. Deer, a globally recognized figure in interventional pain and minimally invasive spine procedures, at the Spine and Nerve Centers of the Virginias.
