Most people have likely at one point imagined life as a billionaire.

The richest person in South Carolina gets to live it.

Forbes has again recently compiled its annual list of the richest person in every state. The national publication found billionaires living in 47 states. Combined, these 54 people, some of whom are tied for the most rich in their state, are worth a total of $1.6 trillion. That’s up $100 billion over last year, Forbes states.

For instance in Louisiana, Todd Graves, founder and CEO of fried chicken fast-food chain Raising Cane’s, is a new billionaire with an estimated $9.1 billion fortune. His rise knocked Gayle Benson, owner of the NFL New Orleans Saints and NBA New Orleans Pelicans, off the top richest list.

“Six other states also saw their wealthiest person change over the past year, as some of the richest Americans decided to move their primary residence,” Forbes states.

Jeff Bezos posted on Instagram in November that he would be moving back to Florida, saying that he was leaving Seattle for his hometown of Miami to be closer to his parents. That now leaves Bill Gates as the richest person in Washington.

So, who is the richest person in South Carolina?

Robert Faith, 60 of Charleston has the distinction with a net worth of $5.8 billion, Forbes states. And that’s up from $5.2 billion a year prior.

Faith is the founder, chairman and CEO of global real estate firm Greystar, which is involved in property and investment management and development services. The firm is based in Charleston and operates more than $240 billion in real estate across five continents, Forbes states.

Faith started out with a job at real estate developer Trammell Crow Co. after studying petroleum engineering at the University of Oklahoma and getting an MBA at Harvard. He became a partner in 1988, but left in 1991 to start investment firm Starwood Capital Partners with a Harvard classmate.

Just two years later, Faith set out on his own and founded Greystar in Houston, Texas.

Below is a list of other top wealthiest people in the Southeast, according to Forbes.
