    Michael J Fox breaks silence on surprise Glastonbury show that left fans 'in tears'

    Michael J Fox has opened up about his “mind-blowing” surprise set with Coldplay at Glastonbury which left fans “in tears”.

    The 63-year-old Back to the Future actor thrilled the 100,000-strong crowd - who included the likes of Gillian Anderson, Tom Cruise , and Simon Pegg - when he joined the band on stage during their record-breaking headline set on Saturday night. Michael showed off his impressive guitar skills as he accompanied Coldplay- who became the first act to headline the festival for the fifth time - on their hit tracks Humankind and Fix You.

    The star - who was diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson’s disease when he was only 29 years old back in 1991 - reflected on the epic performance the following day. Sharing a carousel of snaps and videos from the iconic UK music festival with his 2.3million Instagram followers, Michael summed up the experience as “f------ mind-blowing”.

    Thanking his team and Coldplay, the actor wrote in the caption: “Glastonbury all the love and thanks to the @coldplay team who took such great care of us.”

    He added: “Oh yeah in case you were wondering…it was f------ mind blowing. There is a time for every band and a band for every time. This is @coldplay’s time.”

    Fans rushed to congratulate the “inspirational” star on his incredible performance. One person also suffering from Parkinson’s disease wrote: “Awesome! You’re amazing and such a true inspiration to all of us living with PD! Your optimism is inspiring to us all.”

    Confessing the performance left them in tears, another fan added: “Not afraid to say that I was crying happy tears watching your moment,” while another said: “I bloody loved watching Coldplay, then jumped out of my seat when you came on”.

    During the concert, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin thanked Michael for being the band’s “hero”. Speaking to the elated audience, the 46-year-old rocker said: “The main reason we’re in a band is because of watching Back to the Future.”

    He added: “So thank you to our hero forever and one of the most amazing people on Earth, Mr. Michael J. Fox. Thank you so much Michael, our hero.”
