    Paul George Agrees To Massive Deal With Playoff Team: Report

    Nine-time NBA All-Star Paul George has reportedly agreed to a four-year, $212 million maximum contract with the Philadelphia 76ers , sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed to ESPN 's Adrian Wojnarowski on Monday (July 1).

    George, 34, who averaged 22.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists for the Los Angeles Clippers during the 2023-24 NBA season, will join a Sixers team that includes All-Star center Joel Embiid and guard Tyrese Maxey and has made the playoffs during each of the past seven seasons.

    "BREAKING: Free agent F Paul George has agreed on a four-year, $212 million maximum contract with the Philadelphia 76ers, sources tell ESPN. George committed in a meeting with Sixers officials and returns East to join Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey in pursuit of an NBA title," Wojnarowski wrote on his X account. "George and his agent Aaron Mintz of CAA met with Sixers officials including owner Josh Harris , Daryl Morey , Elton Brand and legend Julius Erving in LA. PG agreed on a deal that includes a player option, sources said."

    George, a Southern California native, declined his $48.7 million player option with the Clippers to enter free agency on Saturday (June 29) hours before his reported meeting with the Sixers. The former Fresno State standout was initially acquired by the Clippers in as part of a blockbuster trade that sent Sha Gilgeous-Alexander , Danilo Gallinari , five first-round picks and the rights to swap to other first-round picks to the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2019.

    George had previously spent his first seven seasons with the Indiana Pacers and two with the Thunder prior to five with the Clippers.
